Bookshop & Bunkhouse
The Book Barge launched in 2009 as an itinerant independent bookshop on a 60′ narrowboat plying British waterways. Now based in Burgundy, France, it sells reading and writing miscellanea and is available for hire as a literary retreat.
Sarah Henshaw
The Book Barge is run by Sarah Henshaw, a journalist and author of The Bookshop that Floated Away (Constable, 2014). She has written for the Telegraph, the Independent and Elle Decoration, is editor of the society magazines of the Inland Waterways Association and River Thames Society and is deputy editor of Waterways World magazine. She writes about books, boats and design and lives afloat in France.
